Bold Introvert; Let’s Hear From Elle

Name My name is Eliane, but since I’ve been to English school my whole life and being around English speakers, I could never get anyone to pronounce my French name properly, so all my friends call me Elle. Much simpler!

Random question: You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be and why? Definitely the brightest yellow available. I won’t be the most used crayon, but when you need a little sunshine in your life, I’m there! I love to spread positivity all the while staying very real and in touch with reality.

Are you a bold introvert? Have you always been one? I’ve always been the type of person to go after I want. When I’m passionate about something, no obstacle is too big and I’ve always been that way.

Of course, I’ve had moments where my confidence was down or was influenced by negativity from people I should not have let into my life. I’m happy to know that I always overcome those phases and get back on the right track and turning those “why would this great thing happen to me?” feelings into “why wouldn’t this amazing thing happen to me!”.

Even though I’ve had an entrepreneurial personality since I was a kid, it keeps evolving with every new project I take on. I love to reflect on my own thought patterns and actions to be able to grow and do better each time.

Most recently, I reached out to another blogger to collaborate on a pretty big endeavour. I’ve always done things on my own, but this past year I’ve learned how surrounding myself with the right people can actually lead to great results. This to me is a pretty big step in my progress as a bold introvert because I never considered myself that much of a team player, but now I’m so glad to be able to embark on this journey with her!

What do you do? I worked for an insurance company for the past 3 years because I had decided to go back to school and wanted a stable 9 to 5 job during my studies. Just before leaving for my road trip to California last month, I quit both school and my job. I knew I wanted to move on to something else, but to figure that out, I needed to get out of my day to day and make room in my mind for new ideas.

I know that I want to pursue writing for my blog which is all about traveling as an introvert and eventually turn it into a book. Mind you, this won’t be paying the bills for a little while, so when I come back from California I’ll be finding some work, but in a much more creative field which fits my personality a lot more!

What are you most proud of? What I’m most proud of isn’t an accomplishment in particular, but more of a personality trait that I used to view as very negative in the past. My empathy.

I used to only see the problems it would bring and the bad decisions I would make because of it. This past year I started to change my point of view on this huge part of personality that was obviously not going away, so I decided to work with it and realized all the great things and wonderful people it brought into my life.

Being empathetic has also lead me to be very resilient which as an entrepreneur is crucial.

Do you feel that your personality trait has helped you achieve your goals? Being introverted usually means that you listen a lot more than you talk, which is definitely my case. Listening to other’s stories has taught me so much and helped me find my own way. It also means that even if I don’t get to see my friends one weekend because I’m slaving away on my writing, I really don’t mind lol

I think the only aspect in which I find it more difficult is in romantic relationships. Being bold and outgoing usually attracts extroverts and then it’s a little difficult to explain when I need time to recharge. On the other hand, if I find myself with an introvert, they usually aren’t as bold as I am, so I feel like I always need to be pushing that person into doing things.

What advice do you have for introverts who are worried about chasing their dreams? Be prepared to step out of your comfort zone every single day!

But being introverts, don’t we already do that anyway? At least now you’ll be doing it for a cause that matters to you, so really there’s no reason not to go for it 😉

Bio: Elle is a total travel junkie!  She’s constantly wandering whether physically or in her thoughts because being on the road is where she finds herself. Being introverted and totally in her head really accentuates Elle’s dreamer personality. Often times Elle wanders off in her own little world and gets called out for being in her “bubble”. Elle found out about introversion and extroversion pretty late in life and finally she understands the way her brain works. This has changed not only the way that Elle travels but her entire life. That’s why she’s so passionate about sharing her experiences in her writing and photography!
