Bold Introvert; Let’s Hear From Pooja

Name Pooja

Random question: You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why? I would probably be blue because it’s my favourite colour right now and it just makes me always feel super calm and light because it reminds me of a sea/ocean. I think the colour changes depending on how I’m feeling at the moment and I guess blue goes with what I’m feeling at the moment.

Are you a bold introvert? Have you always been one? I don’t know if I’m still at 100% with being a bold introvert but I’m definitely working to get there! I remember when I was younger and just talking to someone was a mission for me but now I’m a lot more social and find it easier to make friends. As a student I used to find it really difficult to speak in class but it’s gotten easier for me to speak in class or do presentations although admittedly it is still definitely nerve wrecking- just not as much as before. I also have pretty bad anxiety so to fight through that and being an introvert at the same time is pretty tough. A lot of times I don’t want to get out of bed but fighting through it helps because I always feel better when I get out of bed and get things done!

What do you do? I’m one of those people who need to be doing something or the other because my brain never shuts up so I’m trying to do a lot of things right now. I’m blogging, writing for HubPages, working on my first book, getting my bachelors degree in History, working on my Instagram page that I want to start sharing my recipes on and basically just learning more about myself through meditation and yoga (it also helps with my anxiety!)

What are you most proud of? Just battling my anxiety and the fact that I’m an introvert and still going out and doing things. I moved from Kenya to Canada for university and I think that’s one thing I’m really proud of. I was terrified and there were quite a few hitches on the way but I finally did it and it has been such an amazing experience so far!

Do you feel that your personality trait has helped you achieve your goals? Sometimes I feel like it’s so much harder to do anything as an introvert because it just takes a lot of energy out of you but I think that’s also kind of a good thing. Because we tend to overthink everything and strive for perfection we give our all no matter what we’re doing and we tend not to give up easily and that helps us get really great results. When I first started my blog I knew a lot of people who were also starting out blogging but since they didn’t get immediate results they eventually stopped blogging but I stuck with it and ended up doing pretty well!

What advice do you have for introverts that are worried about chasing their dreams? I know how you feel because I have been terrified every single time I did something to get me closer to achieving my dreams but every single time I talked myself into doing it anyway and it’s so worth it! Seriously, there is no better feeling in the world then achieving your dream! It makes all the struggles and fear worth it when you see the end results of your hard work. No matter who you are, you deserve everything you dream of. Work hard and don’t let fear stop you.

  3. Thanks Pooja for opening up about this! As an introvert myself with anxiety, I know how hard it is to talk to people or get up in front of people and give a presentation, but focusing on my goals and challenging myself to fight my fears has been so rewarding!

    • Well done for challenging yourself! It’s not easy but like you said it’s always rewarding! Thanks for stopping by ! 😊

    • Thank you so much and I’m so glad there are others out there who can relate. It always makes me feel like I’m not alone. Yes, definitely the best way to beat your anxiety is to keep challenging yourself and achieving your goals!

  4. Loved this interview! I’m also an introvert and deal with anxiety on the regular. So, I completely understand your struggles. I agreed with everything you said. Keep chasing those dreams! It’s hard to stay motivated sometime because this world seems designed for extroverts. But, with enough determination, we introverts and anxiety sufferers can certainly still live the life of our dreams. I wish you the best!
